The artist achieved some really
original characters and theme. This
image reveals a great control of
values and the pastel toned palette
suits the mood perfectly. Wiky and
his small guitar is just too funny.
I can almost hear their sad music. A
great overall piece.

The book illustration feeling of
this piece with its distorted
perspective is great. The painterly
feeling of the character sheets and
especially the painting with the
band story really adds to this child
book atmosphere. You can really feel
that there is some sort of story
behind the image and how this band
got together.

One of my favorite pieces. The
design of the characters and
instruments is what I like the most.
The twists and nodes of the wood and
how it works as the extension of
each character is brilliant. Bold
use of color and exquisite design.

Judge's Note :
I wanted to give an honorable
mention to this entry not because of
the final image but due to the work
in each of the characters. The
artist developed seven different
characters in an almost graffiti
style. Each character is fantastic
in its presentation and the
instrument of each character can be
transformed into a weapon and you
can actually see the parts of the
instrument in the weapon, really
nice. However, the band image fell
short on my expectations when
compared to the great character
sheets. |
